Our People

Stephen Franks is a nationally renowned lawyer, expert in company and securities law, and law reform. After early general practice he spent two years in the Office of the Ombudsman then joined Chapman Tripp in 1979, became a partner in 1981 and served as Chairman of the firm’s National Board. He had six years in Parliament, then four back as a consultant with Chapman Tripp.

Rob has over twenty years experience as a commercial lawyer, including 12 years as in-house counsel at Telecom New Zealand. Rob started his legal career with four years general practice in Wellington before joining Chapman Tripp in 1989. After time overseas in 1994 he spent 18 months in general practice in Auckland before joining Telecom as in-house counsel in 1996.

Brigitte has over a decade of experience working in politics across Australia and New Zealand. She has a Bachelor of Law from Victoria University, a Masters of Law from the Australian National University, and a Graduate Certificate in Counter-Terrorism from Interdisciplinary Center (Israel).

Yana joined Franks Ogilvie as Senior Solicitor in 2023, having a diverse legal background in multiple jurisdictions. She specialized in insolvency law and litigation overseas. Yana understands the complexities and challenges associated with insolvency cases, where financial matters and legal proceedings intertwine. Subsequently, she pursued her education at Victoria University of Wellington, earning a Master's degree in Law along with completing the necessary LLB subjects for admission.

Tim joined Frank Ogilvie in 2022 as a Consultant. He graduated with a Master of Laws from Victoria University of Wellington in 1991. He spent over 20 years in private practice working across sole practice and mid size firms, before spending nine years working in-house.

Max Barber is a Solicitor with Franks Ogilvie. He joined the firm in early 2023 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in March 2023. Max joined the firm from BNZ where he spent seven years working across client relations and personal banking. He gained his Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University of Wellington.‍

Madeleine Railton is a Law Research at Franks Ogilvie. Madeleine has experience as an intern for a Member of Parliament, before moving into work as a Membership & Administration Assistant at the New Zealand National Party.

Angela Banks joined Franks Ogilvie in January 2011. She is responsible for the daily efficient operation of the office. Angela has many years experience in administration and management in the design and production industry. More recently she has been involved with assisting member based organisations.

Adam Young is a Law Clerk at Franks Ogilvie. He joined the firm in September 2023 and is studying towards an LLB/BA, majoring in History and Public Policy.
