Employment Law

Employment law continues to grow in importance and complexity (it has been a long time since lawyers who don’t generally work in the area can comfortably dabble). Having access to employment law expertise is vital for every business that hires staff.  Changes are regular and ongoing.  Getting it wrong can prove expensive and time consuming for employers.

Most employers will be wise to get advice before undertaking a complex employment process, like a redundancy or a disciplinary process.  Equally, employees often need support to understand their rights and obligations.  Our clients include both employers and employees.

We can help with drafting employment agreements, training workshops for your management team, negotiations with unions, or with the MBIE Labour Inspectorate, advice on how to run an employment law process (e.g. disciplinary, performance management, redundancy, recruitment, variation of employment) and representing you in an employment dispute (whether that is in mediation, in the Employment Relations Authority or in the Employment Court).

We’re likely to know who makes the decisions, why, and how politics or the law can compel you or trip you up.
If it takes less than 20 minutes we rarely charge.
There are not many specialist public lawyers. Even fewer have commercial experience. We start and end with commercial interests at heart.
